The Class of 2018 was honored during the Class Day celebration on June 4th. During the celebration, the Department of Electrical Engineering bestowed the following departmental awards:
Charles Ira Young Memorial Tablet & Medal - A memorial tablet to Charles Ira Young, class of 1883, has been placed in the Engineering Building by friends of Mr. Young. The medal will be awarded each year to the student who excels in research in Electrical Engineering. Awarded to Hans Hanley.
John Ogden Bigelow, Jr. Prize - Awarded to a senior in the Department of Electrical Engineering who has shown the greatest improvement since entering Princeton. Awarded to Surin Ahn, Leif Grosswiler and T.J. Smith.
G. David Forney, Jr. Prize - Awarded to a senior who has an outstanding record in the communication science, systems & signals. Awarded to Sara Fridovich-Keil.
Peter Mark Prize - Awarded to a senior who has an outstanding record in the area of electronic materials & devices. Awarded to Nathaniel Kavaler.
Optical Engineering Award of Excellence – Awarded to the senior who has an outstanding record in optical engineering. Awarded to Lamia Ateshian.
The Bradley Dickinson Award for System Design – Awarded to a senior with an outstanding record in the design and implementation of complex electronic systems. Awarded to T.J. Smith, Daniel Stanley and Anna Broome.
Sigma Xi Book Award – Awarded to a senior elected to the Princeton Chapter of Sigma Xi, the national society for recognition of scientific research. Awarded to B.C. Cho.
Hisashi Kobayashi Prize - Awarded to a senior who has an outstanding record in the broad field of computing. Awarded to Kathleen Feng.
In addition to the departmental awards, several EE seniors were honored with awards from the School of Engineering and Applied Science.
Anna Broome, T.J. Smith and Daniel Stanley won the Calvin Dodd MacCracken Senior Thesis Award.
Hans Hanley won the James Hayes-Edgar Palmer Prize in Engineering.
Lamia Ateshian won the Jeffrey O. Kephart '80 Engineering Physics Award.
Sara Fridovich-Keil won the Tau Beta Pi Prize.
