Purdue University has named Mung Chiang as its next president, effective Jan. 1, 2023. Chiang is currently the John A. Edwardson Dean of Engineering and Executive Vice President for Strategic Initiatives at Purdue.
Before joining Purdue in 2017, he was the Arthur LeGrand Doty Professor of Electrical Engineering at Princeton. He has maintained a role as a visiting faculty member in the department, continuing to advise graduate students working to advance safe and secure AI.
Chiang has advised more than 50 Ph.D. students and postdocs in his career, and he has amassed more than 30,000 citations for his work in edge computing, internet congestion, cloud and video optimization, and other research areas.
