Prof. Emmanuel Abbe, assistant professor in the department, has received First Prize at Bell Labs 2014 prize showcasing innovative ideas with the power to change communications for his proposal entitled “A Shannon Theory of Social Networks and Beyond”. 

The Bell Labs Prize is designed to provide motivation and incentive to drive disruptive innovation.  In addition to the cash prizes, all of the finalists will be offered the chance to continue to collaborate with Bell Labs to further explore and develop their ideas.  More details can be found here.
